In the Spring of 2021 I was invited to attend a 7 day Medicine Forum. In late Summer of 2021 I attend the forum in Virginia. This program opened up several opportunities for me and allowed me to gather a better understanding of what will happen in the medical field.
I participated in a Triage group that was a simulation of a mass casualty incident. This program was also beneficial for my social skills and a good source for me to put myself out there with a team that knew how to communicate. Creating bonds is key in life; I made several meaningful connections as well as meeting mentors who wouldn't mind writing recommendation letters for other learning opportunities. My favorite memory from this experience was learning how to stitch a wound and draw blood from multiple veins that run through the body. I also learned how to make a sling and a makeshift gurney out of recycled materials. |
